Showboat Casino Hotel

The showboat is just that – it is based on the concept of a riverboat theatre and sports a New Orleans Mardi Gras theme. It has showcased some of the biggest attractions in the entertainment fraternity, covering virtually every musical genre known to man, and it continues to offer the finest selection of musicians in and around the States.

The hotel-casino has over 1300 rooms that are housed in the aptly named Orleans, Bourbon and New Towers. The casino has all the basic gambling offerings including baccarat, craps, poker, roulette, and of course, those famous slot machines, but the overwhelming favourite of visitors to the Showboat is the ‘House of Blues’!

The House of Blues

The Showboat is an entertainment Mecca and is home to the famed ‘House of Blues’, a chain of music halls and restaurants founded by Isaac Tigret, the Hard Rock Cafe man, and his investor, actor Dan Ackroyd.

The ‘House of Blues’ is, in effect, a concept, it reflects the cuisine and music of the African American population, and there are ‘House of Blues’ all over the United States. The Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas and Atlantic City’s very own Showboat are the only two casinos in the States which offer the ‘House of Blues’ to its patrons.

Apart from the glittering entertainment, the ‘House of Blues’ concept has stretched as far as some of the rooms in the hotel – the ‘House of Blues Studio Suites’ are said to be good enough for a rock star.
